Okay this post might be a bit of an exaggeration, because I actually believe that anyone can homeschool with a pencil and a library card. But what fun is there in that? So I have created this Homeschool Supply List- Essentials Every Homeschooler Needs- Because… sometimes I like people to boss me around and just tell me what I need to buy. I’m going to break this list up into sections, with my favorite one at the end.
Homeschool Essentials for the Classroom:
If you are blessed to have a space in your house where you can homeschool exclusively then the sky is the limit for how you design your space. If you need some ideas, check out this post
But if you are sharing your school space with the kitchen, den, or other area, then having some kind of organizational system is going to be essential.
Let’s start with the Mack Daddy of All Printers. Ladies and Gentlemen I want to introduce you to the Homeschoolers Dream. You might be tempted to trade in your 3rd child for this beauty. I wouldn’t recommend it but I would understand. I haven’t met a homeschooler yet who has been disappointed with this printer. Check out the reviews and then get to saving!
But if your budget won’t allow for it, the HP printer with instant ink is a good alternative with good reviews.
There is nothing… y’all… more frustrating then being in a good school groove and not being able to find something I need. I will lose 3 solid hours looking for something – 1. Because I’m crazy like that and 2. Because I can’t stand to not know where something is. And then of course my school day is ruined. But that needent be you. These organizers will keep you sane and everything in the proper place. I love that these have wheels so that they can be moved around to wherever you are doing school.
Do you store your children’s school work? Or need a place to keep important school papers? These are great solutions. We only keep a few special pieces of school work, usually some writing samples, an art piece or a paper they wrote, each year. But if you are in a state that requires you to keep more formal records- I think these boxes are aesthetically pleasing and functional.
Keeping with the classroom necessities, here are a few others: We actually use an amazing x-acto pencil sharpener that I love, but apparently they don’t make it anymore. Sorry folks, sad day. So I found this one that had great ratings and was highly recommended by teachers. And y’all, you are wasting time and money if you aren’t using Ticonderoga pencils. They are the bomb diggity of pencils, the lead lasts forever and they sharpen beautifully even.
Homeschool Supplies for Teaching
The truth is, you probably don’t need any of these things to school your children well, but they sure do make teaching more fun. We use magnetic letters for teaching spelling rules, learning difficult words, phonics… the list goes on. Unifex cubes can be used for counting, non- standard measurement, patterns, and more. The clock is my favorite one to use, because it moves the hour hand along with the minute hand so it doesn’t allow your student to make a mistake when learning to tell time.
Do you like to reuse worksheets or save your curriculum pages? Then the Dry Erase Pockets are going to be your best friend.
Make a Cozy Reading Nook
Do you have a reluctant reader? Make them their own special place, we have a fun set up in our daughters room that makes reading time extra special.
Homeschool “supplies” Just for Mom
I think we can all agree, that homeschool moms work hard. Our job is never done. And even if we love most of it, there are days we just need to spoil ourselves with a little TLC
There are probably dozens of more Homeschool Must haves that I use regularly but if there is something you see missing from this list, That you just can’t live without, let me know- and I’ll get it added.
