The BEST way to Sabotage your Homeschool Day

I work an early morning part time job, but before I had a job that woke me up before the roosters, I would start my mornings off in a leisurely manner. Savannah Guthrie and I were besties and my children knew not to talk to me before that last sip of coffee {with my favorite partially hydrogenated creamer} was gone. Awww it was the good life. That is until I wanted to get school started at 9:00.  By this time the kids had cozied up with Wild Kratz or were involved in a rousing game of “who annoys best.” Interrupting their activities with something as trivial as school didn’t happen without some kind of protest. After repeating “yes, we are doing school today, because it’s TUESDAY!” For the 34,784th time, I decided that I was going to have to break up with Hoda Kotb and either get up earlier or drink my coffee on the go.

Enter the mourning period.

I don’t know how your mornings look but I have talked to enough moms to know that the way we start our morning sets the tone for the rest of the day.

If you are looking to sabotage your homeschool day I have the perfect list to get you started.

Best way to sabotage your homeschool day

Give them TV or Computer/gaming time before you start school.  Don’t worry I’m sure your grammar lesson will be just as enthralling as that Minecraft game.

Allow everyone to start school at their own times.

Stay up late the night before binge watching shows on Netflix. After all it’s the only “you” time you get.

Wing it. Planning is for the weak.  You know exactly what you are doing and where you are going.

Check your email before you start the day.  You have an uncle in Nigeria that left you an inheritance. Congrats!

Deciding that you have to have EVERYTHING cleaned up before you begin school.  That tub isn’t going to scrub itself.

Sleeping in.  Your kids are completely self-motivated, they barely need you anymore.

Forgetting to spend time with Jesus before you begin.  Eh, who needs patience anyway.

Checking  all your social media sites right after you wake up. You have a few hours right?

Let your kids sleep in as late as they want. They are homeschooled after all.

What would you add to this list? How do you prevent these saboteurs from ruining your day?

Oh Me too! I once read somewhere to never read email until you are able to do something about it. I try to remember that. But it’s often just too tempting!
